Possibilities in the garden...

If you've followed the blog for a while, you may remember our very first garden post, nearly two years ago! Well the Schaefer Manor Farm has made great strides since then, adding two more vegetable beds, lots more herbs, cold frames, a drip watering system, and a dwarf Meyer lemon tree, but I'm sad to say that this last winter I let things slip, and weeds took over most of the yard. Even after a thorough weed whacking, there is a lot of work to do before things can be planted.

The Yard is mostly tangled up in deep-rooted weeds like this. I never grasped the true, radical meaning of the phrase "grass roots" until I tried to pull these bastards out! On a more positive note, beneficial herbs like parsely have rooted in all over the yard, and will probably get a year-round supply without having to do any extra work! But we've got big plans coming, in the form of steer manure, and nice, rich compost! Check back near the end of February for an update!
